The Ageless Life: A Guide to Growing Older Without Growing Old
Aging is inevitable. Decline is not.
Somewhere along the way, many of us begin accepting things we once would have questioned. We move a little less. We ache a little more. We quietly lower our expectations until one day we mistake adaptation for surrender.
I wrote The Ageless Life because I discovered something unexpected:
My body still wanted to heal. It still wanted to become stronger.
It was simply waiting for me to give it the opportunity.
After just one week of moving every day, eating real food, and stretching consistently, something unexpected happened. I woke up brighter. More cheerful. More eager to begin the day.
It wasn’t just that I felt healthier. I discovered a new love for living.
We surrender in millimeters—rolling over when a sunrise calls us out, eating what is easy and off the shelf. And our thoughts, beliefs and character become shaped and informed by decline, obituaries of friends, and terminal existence.
I’ve always been an optimizer. Writing The Ageless Life simply helped me understand why. I wasn’t chasing perfection. I was learning to make the next better choice. Those choices reminded me of what is concrete and real. They changed my life. I learned that if I am alive, I can still preserve my independence.
Ask yourself, do you identify as an old person trying to make it to 80? Or are you preparing for your next adventure? What do you still want to be doing at age 80 and beyond?
The older I get, the less interested I am in simply adding years to my life. I’m interested in adding life to my years.
I am not preparing for old age. I am preparing for my next adventure.
I want to keep hiking trails, wading rivers, carrying groceries, laughing with friends, and saying yes to adventures I haven’t imagined yet.
That’s what The Ageless Life is really about.
Not living forever.
Living fully.
